Anti-dumping duties are still frequently used as a means to hermetically seal regional markets and frustrate free competition across national borders. Those who wish to open up and liberalise world trade in favour of free competition are constantly being frustrated in their aspirations – to the general detriment of consumers and importers alike.

AVE is firmly against the misuse of anti-dumping duties as a protectionist tool. AVE has had a number of successes in opposing anti-dumping duties in court, obtaining for its members the repayment of millions of euros levied by way of punitive tariffs. Complementary to these activities, AVE invests a great amount of time and effort in persuading the key political decision makers to limit the imposition of trade protection measures to a minimum.
